Canvas is the Course Management System used at Emory. It is a vehicle for document distribution (including syllabi, assignments, and E-reserves), communication, submitting finished work, and personal portfolio storage. The URL for Canvas at Emory is http://canvas.emory.edu. OPUS (Emory's registration system) automatically enrolls you in a Canvas course for all courses for which you are registered, as long as the professor has made it available in Canvas.
After logging in, you can check your personal information on Canvas by clicking the "Account" button at the top left and choosing "Settings." The "Help" button at the bottom left links to general Canvas support at Emory and will lead you to several Canvas tutorials.
The Pitts Theology Library provides local support for the use of Canvas by faculty, students, and staff at the Candler School of Theology. If you need help, contact Candler Canvas Support by email at candlercanvas@emory.edu, by phone at 404.727.1218, or on the web. For list of frequently asked questions about Canvas at Candler, click here.
Course reserves are available in two formats: online at the Course Reserves site, or as physical books, DVDs, and CDs at the Pitts Theology Library Circulation Desk.
To access online reserves, either click the "Library Course Reserves" link in the Canvas menu for each of your courses, or go to https://reserves.library.emory.edu/ to see reserves for all of your classes. Log in using your Emory NetID and password. Once logged in, you'll see the courses in which you're currently enrolled. Click on the course title to enter a course and view the readings. Click on the title of the reading; PDFs and links can be saved to your computer or device for later access. Citations for books, DVDs, and CDs include the call number for the item.
Physical reserves for Candler School of Theology courses are located at the Pitts Theology Library Circulation Desk. Please bring the call number for the book you wish to borrow. Most books are available to be checked out for 3 hours at a time, although some instructors have requested to make the books available for a full day instead. Fines for overdue reserve items accrue at $1.00 per hour.
If you have questions or concerns regarding book or online reserves, please contact Elizabeth Miller, reserves specialist at Pitts Theology Library: 404.727.5535, elizabeth.miller@emory.edu.
