The Tools of Research
A host of resources are available to you at Emory. Here are links and information about a few of the most commonly used for research. Please ask a reference librarian if you would like to know more about any of these tools or about other resources.
The ATLA Religion Database indexes more than 1.9 million articles dating from 1949 in all fields of religion. It is a great starting place to find articles, book reviews, and collections of essays for many topics. Databases @ Emory is your gateway to more than 700 databases indexing articles, full-text resources, digitized archival collections, and bibliographic guides that are available to you. DiscoverE is the catalog for Emory Libraries catalog. DiscoverE is the best way to locate books available at Emory, as well as to find web sites, online collections of materials, and Emory repositories, such as electronic theses and dissertations. Patrons should use the Advanced Search to select search parameters for searching, as well as use facets to limit search results after conducting an initial search. Patrons can also access their Emory library account by clicking "Emory Login" at the top of discoverE. Once logged in, patrons can see the items borrowed and any fines or fees associated with an account, as well as renew eligible items. MinistryMatters.com is a resource for ministers published by the United Methodist Publishing House. It includes preaching aids, lectionary resources, reference works, Bible translations, and more. Up to 10 users can access licensed materials (available under the "Library" tab) simultaneously. Additional content is available freely to anyone who visits the site.WorldCat connects you to the library holdings of more than 10,000 libraries worldwide. This is a great resource for determining holding libraries for any item that you cannot find in discoverE or EUCLID, and for using in conjunction with placing an Interlibrary Loan. It's also a great resource for developing a comprehensive bibliography on a topic of interest.
