Scripture Reference:
Description: The doctor, wearing a house robe, sits in his study at a table with an opened illustrated botany book. A patient, wearing a hat, stands in front of him and pulls a flask from a wicker basket. Books line the shelves; flasks and jars are on top of the bookcases. The Dutch artist and poet Jan Luiken (1649-1712) was responsible for drawing this emblem and for creating the motto and poem that follow. Jan Luiken and/or his son Casper Luiken (1672-1708) were responsible for its etching. The attendant scripture text is Matthew 8:16-17.
