Image Title: The Infant Born
Scripture Reference:
Description: The newborn child has been carefully swaddled and is shown to an older woman. Outside, in front of the open door a man, probably the father, sits on a bench and views passersby on the opposite side of the city street. The Dutch artist and poet Jan Luiken (1649-1712) was responsible for drawing and etching this emblem and for the brief poem that accompanies it (below). The attendant Scripture texts are: Job 7:1-3; 14:1-2; and John 3:5-6.
