Donating Archival Materials
The Archives and Manuscript Department of Pitts Theology Library collects primary source material in the following subject areas:
- Candler School of Theology - history, records, and papers of faculty and alumni
- Martin Luther and the Reformation of the sixteenth century
- Wesleyana and Methodism - materials such as artifacts and documents that shed light on any aspect of John Wesley, Methodism, and the Methodist Church in North Georgia. Pitts is the repository for the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church and records of closed United Methodist Churches should be deposited here
- English religious history from 1662 to 1920, including Anglicanism, Catholicism, Non-conformists, and Methodists
- Missionary activity - particularly Methodist missionaries from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries
- Pastoral care, pastoral counseling, and clinical pastoral education
- Sacred music and hymnody, including Sacred Harp, shape note musical traditions, and hymn writers
- Contemplative Christian thought
- History of the Bible or biblical studies
Archival materials include original correspondence, diaries, photographs and moving images, scrapbooks, reports, and related items.
