Description: This engraving is the fifteenth of eighteen illustrating the dedication or consecration of a church. The bishop consecrates the new altar with blessed water and holy oil. He makes the sign of the cross with the oil in the middle of the altar and in each of the four corners corresponding to the five places on the surface of the altar where a cross has been engraved, first with the water and then with the oil.
