Description: Several scenes from the story of Adam and Eve’s sin in the Garden of Eden are represented in this engraving. Satan enters the garden as a serpent; Eve proposes to Adam that each should work alone that day; Adam resists at first, but then consents; Satan confronts Eve alone in the garden and she eats of the forbidden fruit; Eve convinces Adam to eat of the fruit as well; and finally, they clothe themselves with fig leaves. The name of the artist, John Baptiste de Medina (1659-1710) is in the lower left, and the engraver, Michael Burgesse (1647,48-1727), at the right.
