To the left is Saint Kilian, an Irish missionary bishop and the Apostle of Franconia, wearing a mitre and holding a sword, both of which are his attributes. To the right is Saint Lawrence of Rome, one of the seven deacons of the ancient Rome who were martyred during Emperor Valerian's persecution of Christians. Lawrence is holding a grid-iron and is wearing a dalmatic, or liturgical vestment, both of which are his attributes.
