Description: King Solomon writes at his worktable, perhaps penning the book of Proverbs. In the background, a framed portrait depicts the child custody trial from the Book of Kings: the child’s mother pleads to save the child’s life as Solomon’s servant moves to cut the child in two. The engraver, Jacobus Harrewijn (1660-1727), has placed his signature in the bottom right.
