Description: This emblem depicts a woman filling her heart with the new wine of the press of the cross, which comes down upon an angel inflicted with stigmata wounds. The image is titled with the Latin MUSTUM CORDIS E TORCULARI CRUCIS, which translates “The New Wine of the Heart out of the Press of the Cross,” and is accompanied by the text of Psalm 103:15. This is the final emblem in a series of 47 published anonymously and adapted from Benedictine writer Benedict van Haeften's Schola Cordis (1629).
