The image is titled with the Latin CORDIS CUSTODIA, which translates “the keeping of the heart,” and accompanied by the text of Proverbs 4:23. This is the thirty-first in a series of 47 emblems published anonymously and adapted from Benedictine writer Benedict van Haeften's Schola Cordis (1629).
