Description: This emblem features cattails on the edge of the water blowing in the wind. The Latin motto ABSQUE NODO, which translates "without knots," titles the frame, alluding to Irenaeus’ image of Mary as the “loosener of knots” in his “Against Heresies” (c.180). This emblem is one in a series of 46 published by Cardinal Celestino Sfondrati confirming the Immaculate Conception in nature.
