Description: This picture, a reproduction of an engraving by Bernard Picart (1673-1733), depicts a baptism of a German Collegiant sect. A crowd stands on both sides of a large, stepped baptismal basin and watches as the minister, who stands in the water with the candidate, begins to immerse him. The engraver, William Dickes (1815-1892), has left his name in the bottom left of the woodcut.
