Image Title: Font at Liege in Belgium

Scripture Reference:

Description: This twelfth-century baptismal font comes from the Church of Saint Bartholomew in Liège in Belgium. Twelve bulls encircle the base of the font, in imitation of Solomon’s Bronze Sea. The top exterior of the font features high-relief sculptural depictions of several New Testament scenes, one of which, the baptism of Jesus, is fully visible here. John the Baptist stands to the left as he baptizes Jesus, and two angels hold towels on the right, as the Father’s visage and a descending dove appear above Jesus’ head.
