Description: This sketch, taken from an eleventh-century manuscript in the National Library of France, shows a Jewish man standing upright as John the Baptist fully immerses the man with his right hand. Other Jewish candidates stand in a triangle beside the body of water; one sits on a rock, removing his shoes; another two stand behind John, either robing or disrobing.
