Description: This sketch of a fresco in the catacomb of Santa Lucina depicts the baptism of Jesus. Jesus (left) stands waist-high along the Jordan River’s shore, grasping the hand of John the Baptist, who at the shoreline’s edge, helps Jesus to either ascend from or descend into the water. A dove flies overhead, carrying a leaf in its beak.
