February

Book Title: Officium B. Mariæ Virginis [ex bulla sanctissimi D.N. Papæ Pii V.]

Author: Catholic Church

Image Title: February

Description: The second of the calendar images depicts the month of February. The image shows an empty city that holds several couples in what appears to be courtship. This is probably a reference to Valentine’s Day. As well, there are two minstrels in the forefront of the image. In the sky, there is a depiction of the zodiac sign Pisces. The artist, Jacques Stella (1596-1657), and the engraver, H. David, are responsible for the etching.
