Description: The pictura of this emblem by the Jesuit priest Herman Hugo (1588 – 1629 CE) allegorically figures thematic elements of its ensuing scripture citation and poem. Two women, personifications of the stars, pass by the love-struck supplicant. The latter bids them to tell her lover, God, of her lovesickness, represented by the arrow lodged in her chest.
