Description: The pictura of this emblem by the Jesuit priest Herman Hugo (1588 – 1629 CE) allegorically figures thematic elements of its ensuing scripture citation and poem. An angel bids the supplicant to make music with her voice and lyre, but the latter sets aside both the songbook and the instrument, unwilling to sing in the midst of her mourning.
