Description: This copper plate engraving is a depiction of the coat of arms of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor and King of Spain (1500-1558). The motto of Charles V, further beyond, is shown wrapped around two columns. This design is still used on Spain's flag with the coat of arms of Spain placed between the two columns. The coat of arms and engravings in this book were designed by Silvestro Pietrasanta (1590-1647).
