Description: A depiction of a freemason meeting. The coat of arms at the top bears the French motto “Jay [J’ai] bonne cause” (“I have good reason”). Sir Richard Steele, the Irish playwright and politician, published the Tattler and the Spectator, which mentioned the Free Masons several times. Also depicted are the signs and symbols of various Masonic lodges. Drawn by Louis Fabricius Dubourg (1693–1775) and engraved by I.F.
