Description: After the death of French Jansenist deacon François de Pâris in 1727, he was buried in the Cemetery of St. Médard. Fellow Jansenists prayed over his grave and claimed to start experiencing miraculous convulsions at the site starting in 1731 (top). When the convulsionnaires began causing disruption, the cemetery was closed, and convulsionnaires held their meeting in homes (bottom).
