Image Title: The Swan
Description: A mother swan and her two cygnets approach a plant as a cloud blows upon it. A Latin inscription reads HOC CYGNO VINCES, which translates to “this swan will conquer”. The mother swan is a symbol for the Virgin Mary and her cygnets represent the believers Mary protects and leads to the light. The engraver, Jacob van Langeren (ca 1525-1610), has placed his signature at the bottom center.
