Description: The prophet Moses kneels, placing his arms atop two stones labeled “Patienter” (Latin for “patiently”) and “Constanter” (“constantly” or “steadfastly”). The smiling sun nourishes a sunflower with light, as an angel waters the flower with a pot. Another angel appears above Moses, embracing one of a pair of hearts, which symbolize divine will and human will: the upper heart, supported by sword and lily, bears the message “Surge propera” (“Arise, make haste”); the lower heart, winged, reads “Ecce adsum” (“Here I am”). The caption contains a quotation of Joshua and Caleb from Numbers 14:9: “Dominus nobiscum est; nolite metuere” (“The Lord is with us; do not fear”).
