Image Title: How They Fish, What Implements They Use, and What Kinds of Fish They Catch Along the Coast
Description: This print shows how the people of the Gold Coast go out fishing in the day time. “A” shows with what zeal they set out in the morning at day-break with their canoes, sitting in pairs in the canoes, paddling with great fury in order to be the first to start catching; “B” is those who fish with drag-nets, which they let down at night, and from which they take the fish in daytime; “C” is those who catch fish called Corcovado, having attached to their heads big long lines, which they drag with great speed through the sea, and on which the fish come and hang themselves; and “D” is those who catch a fish by lying quietly on the water in their canoe and throw the net when they see the fish jump.
