Description: This coin is an osella commissioned by Venetian Doge Leonardo Donato (1436-1523) in 1521. The obverse (left) depicts Donato humbly accepting the Venetian Republic’s banner from the seated Saint Mark. The reverse (right) features Lady Justice, blindfolded, in a pose similar to the Doge’s. Holding her scales in one hand, she receives a sword from Saint Mark.
