Description: A portrait of Venetian Doge Marco Barbarigo (c. 1413-1486), who reigned for nine months between 1485 and 1486. On Barbarigo’s coat of arms, a set of three beards appears on each side of a broad diagonal stripe, which contains three lions. The accompanying medal bears, on the front, a bust of the Doge, and on the reverse, a version of the inscription on Barbarigo’s tomb: “Ser vavi bello patriam morboqve fameqve ivstitiam fovi plvs dare non potvi”.
