Description: A portrait of Venetian Doge Nicolo Tron (r. 1471-1473). His coat of arms contains in its top half three fleurs-de-lis and in its bottom half a pattern of diagonal stripes. The upper coin of the two displayed, called the Lira Tron, features on its obverse (left) a bust of the Doge, and on its reverse (right) the winged, haloed lion of Saint Mark holding a book. The smaller coin, a soldino, portrays on its reverse (left) the lion of Saint Mark, and on its obverse (right) Doge Tron holding a banner as he kneels.
