Image Title: Portrait of Marco Cornaro

Description: A portrait of Venetian Doge Marco Cornaro (c. 1285-1368), who reigned from 1365 to 1368. A decade before his accession to the dogeship, Cornaro had helped to frustrate disgraced doge Marin Falier’s conspiracy against the Venetian aristocracy. Cornaro’s coat of arms is vertically quartered: the first two quarters are further divided horizontally, containing an assortment of crosses and three lions rampant.
