Description: A portrait of Venetian Doge Domenico Michiel (r. 1117-1129). He personally commanded Venice during its triumphant siege on Tyre. Michiel’s coat of arms is divided quarterly: the upper left contains a shooting star, the upper right contains a pattern of horizontal stripes, the lower left contains the same pattern beneath a right triangle of bezants, and the lower right contains two lions rampant and facing each other.
