Description: This etched print features a representative member of the Urbanist nuns of the Order of Saint Clare. “Urbanist” is the designation of those of the Poor Clares who adhere to the Order’s Rule as modified by Pope Urban IV (1195 – 1264 CE) in 1263. Under Urban’s Rule the new community received for the first time the official title of “Order of Saint Clare.” In a few particulars the new regulations were less severe than those of the Rule of 1247 .
