Description: This etched print features a female member of the French Carmelites, who were first established by Françoise d'Amboise (1427 – 1485 CE), the widow of Peter, Duke of Brittany. In 1463 CE, she founded, together with Jean Soreth, the first monastery of the Carmelites in France. She took the veil in 1468, when entering the convent of the Three Maries at Vannes. She died in Nantes, at the monastery of the Carmelite nuns. In 1863, she was beatified by Pope Pius IX.
