Image Title: Augustinian Nuns

Description: In this etched print, an Augustinian nun holds a text in her left hand, presumably a Bible. Augustinian nuns are the most ancient and continuous segment of the Roman Catholic Augustinian religious order under the canon of contemporary historical method. Augustine of Hippo’s hortatory letter to the nuns at Hippo Regius is the most ancient example on which the beginnings of this Augustinian Rule are based.
