Image Title: Sisters of the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary
Description: This etched print features a sister of the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary, a Roman Catholic religious order for women founded by Francis de Sales (1567 – 1622 CE) and Jane Frances de Chantal (1572 – 1641 CE) in 1610. Francis envisioned the order welcoming women with delicate constitutions and who could not, therefore, practice the austerities of other orders. In 1618 Pope Paul V canonically erected it and thereby grated it all the privileges enjoyed by other orders.
