Description: This etched print depicts the Christian saint and martyr Basilissa of Antioch, wife of Julian, who was also a saint and martyr. According to legend, she and her husband preserved their virginity throughout their marriage. With him, she founded a hospital, which purportedly served thousands of indigents. She also founded a convent, of which she was a member.
