Description: King Solomon resolves a maternity dispute between two women by deciding that the infant be cut in half. The woman supplicating the soldier, Solomon divines, is the child’s mother. He commands the soldier to stop and appoints the child to her. The engraver, Michael van der Gucht (1660–1725), has placed his signature in the lower left.
