Poem: The Soul on the chest of Jesus.
Though everything swore,
To disturb my rest;
It was in vain as thou dost see,
They did not rob my rest.
The inferior must be silent before the superior,
The smallest must bow before the largest,
I rest so safely and sweetly,
In God, my love, the highest good,
And he is greater than all,
How then would rest escape me?
Even if the entire creation
Is struggling, in flame and fire,
And brings forth much misery and pain,
We lie quietly on Jesus’ heart,
That is a place where all evil,
However large and strong ceases:
A place of true peace and joy,
The reward of genuine virtues.
Oh deepest LOVE from God’s heart!
My JESUS, ah how sweet thou art!
God’s Answer:
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14: 27)
