Description: In 1572 C.E., the judicial authorities of Dortrecht arrest both Adriaenken Jans of Molenaersgraef and Jan Woutersz van Kuyck for their Anabaptist faith and imprison them in the Vuylpoort, where they are severely tortured. Despite their sufferings, they refuse to renounce their faith, and the authorities have them sentenced to be burned to death as a consequence, though they have given express orders to have Adriaenken Jans strangled to death before they burn her body. Just prior to their execution, Jan Woutersz manages to deliver a prayer before the crowd that has gathered to witness the vulgar spectacle .
