Description: The authorities of Nimeguen sentence Gerrit Haseppot to death for his confession of Anabaptist faith and provide a cup of wine for him to drink, per their custom for such a sentence. Hasepoot refuses the cup, proclaiming that he awaits the new wine that will be given him in God’s kingdom. Overcome with grief, and carrying their infant child, his wife comes to the city hall and bids her husband farewell.
