Image Title: The Child Must Be Obedient
Scripture Reference:
Description: As a child walks along, angels and cherubs watch from a cloud. In the background of this city scene a family takes a walk with three young children, a boat can be seen on the canal, and a stork sits on her nest on a church roof. The Dutch artist and poet Jan Luiken (1649-1712) was responsible for drawing and etching this emblem and for the brief poem that accompanies it (below). The attendant Scripture texts are 2 Kings 6:15-17; Matt 18:10; Acts 12:15; Col 3:20; and Heb 2:13-14.
