Description: This engraving depicts the blowing of the first five trumpets. In the upper left an angel sounds the first trumpet bringing hail mixed with fire and blood upon the earth. In the upper right an angel sounds the second trumpet causing a huge mountain to ignite with fire and destroy a third of the sea and ships. To the lower left an angel sounds the third trumpet, causing a star called Wormwood to fall from heaven, turning the waters bitter. In the bottom middle an angel sounds the fourth trumpet, causing a third of the luminaries to be struck dark. To the lower right a an angel sounds the fifth trumpet, causing a star to fall from heaven and open the Abyss, allowing locust-like creatures to prey upon the earth.
