Description: This engraving by Otto Elliger depicts Jesus being crucified between two thieves. At the foot of the cross is the sponge on a stick that was used to offer Jesus sour wine. To the right on of the thief’s legs are broken, while in the foreground the soldiers cast lots for Jesus clothing. Also in the foreground are Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Younger and Joses, and Salome.
