Description: This engraving illustrates the reconciliation of an apostate, schismatic or heretic. The bishop sits outside the church. The heretic kneels before the bishop. The bishop then asks the heretic a series of questions, such as “Do you believe in the twelve articles of the faith?” To these the heretic must reply, “I believe.” After the interrogation, the bishop takes the heretic by the hand and reintroduces him into the church.
