Image Title: The Order for the Suspension, Reconciliation, Deposition, Dispensation, Degradation, and Restitution of Holy Orders

Description: This engraving is the last of three illustrating various rites for those under holy orders. This engraving illustrates the rite of degradation. The bishop, who is being degraded, kneels before the presiding bishop, who announces to all present the cause of his fellow bishop being removed from office. He then removes a sign of office: the miter. A similar rite is performed for degraded priests, deacons, sub-deacons and the other orders leading to priesthood.
