Description: In the Eucharistic cup stands Jesus as the Man of Sorrows, surrounded by the instruments of his death. Over his head is a sign that reads “INRI,” which abbreviates the title that Pilate posted on the cross, “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.” Includes the monogram of the woodcutter, Christoffel van Sichem II (1577-1658); his son, Christoffel van Sichem III (1618-1659), may have collaborated with him on these images, at lower right.
