Description: The Harrowing of Hell is depicted as Jesus, holding the resurrection banner, breaks down the gates of Hell and reaches down to rescue the souls in Hell. A devil thrusts a spear at Adam and Eve in the background. Underneath the gate is the year 1512. Includes the monogram of the woodcutter, Christoffel van Sichem II (1577-1658) in the top left corner; his son, Christoffel van Sichem III (1618-1659), may have collaborated with him on these images. The stone at the lower right corner has the monogram of Albrecht Dürer.
