Description: This image comes from “Oraculum Anachoreticum,” dated 1600, bound with “Solitudo, sive, Vitae patrum eremicolarum”. A historiated title-page featuring a statue of Jesus as the Good Shepherd (center), with the figures of Obedience (Abraham stayed from sacrificing Isaac, left) and Humility on either side. At the bottom of the page is the coat of arms of Pope Clement VIII (r. 1592-1605). The artist responsible for the design was Maarten De Vos and the engraver was Johannes Sadeler I (Jan Sadeler), whose names are at the lower right.
