Description: This image comes from “Trophaeum Vitae Solitariae,” dated 1598, bound with “Solitudo, sive, Vitae patrum eremicolarum”. Saint Patroclus of Bourges (c. 496-576), a Merovingian ascetic, is shown praying before an image of Jesus on the cross. The artist responsible for the design was Maarten De Vos, but the engraving for the volume was done by Raphael Sadeler I, whose names are at the base.
