Description: This image comes from “Trophaeum Vitae Solitariae,” dated 1598, bound with “Solitudo, sive, Vitae patrum eremicolarum”. Saint Paternus, the fifth century Welsh hermit, is shown kneeling before a cross in the woods. The artist responsible for the design was Maarten De Vos, but the engraving for the volume was done by Raphael Sadeler I, whose names are at the base.
