Description: Saint Paul of Thebes or Saint Paul the Hermit (third-fourth centuries) appears as usual here, in the wilderness with a raven bringing him food, clothed with a skirt of leaves. Paul is often considered to be the first Christian hermit in Egypt. The artist responsible for the design was Maarten De Vos, but the engraving for the volume was done by Johannes Sadeler I (Jan Sadeler) and Raphael Sadeler I, whose surname is at the lower center.
